Color, Light & Love

My paintings of abstracted landscapes, as well as my more abstracted pieces, evoke the powerful emotional reactions that aspects of nature stir within me. These are honest peeks into my inner relationship with the world, filled with color and endless joy. My process is a passionate trial of color placement, color relationships, light effects, introspection, form and pattern manipulation, and textural play. My goal is to project the visual vibrations of energy, light, excitement and enthusiasm through my intuitive and colorful translations of beauty - to capture all this in a physical form that others can take home with them and enjoy. I believe art is a manifestation of love.
A native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I began painting lessons as a shy yet spirited child studying in Provincetown, Ma. I received formal training at L’Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux Arts in Paris, France; The Art Institute Boston; and Boston University. Some teachers with whom I studied that influenced the development of my work in color and light were Lois Griffel at The Cape Cod School of Art, Wolf Kahn at the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Arts, Janet Fish in NYC.
Early in my career I concentrated on murals and tromp l'oeil painting, working with teenagers creating murals funded by local art agencies and grants, and I was an art teacher in public and private education for over 40 years. I now work full time in my home studio. I have facilitated "Artists Trips," taking artists to paint on locations nationally and internationally, from Italy to New Mexico. I have organized and facilitated these two trips each year for small groups of artists who have wanted to paint in different locations in the world. (These are listed under "Artist Trips" here on my website.) Covid19 placed a hold on these trips. and I hope to plan more in future. My paintings have been exhibited in many group shows, solo shows, juried shows, in publications, and have received awards and commissions. I love to travel and have lived and worked in parts of Europe, the Middle East, Martha's Vineyard, Ma., Cape Cod, Ma., Sarasota, Fl., Los Angeles, Ca., and Santa Fe, NM. I now live in Norfolk, Massachusetts with my husband, Ed.
